Hedgehog: Premature Rescue

We have had more prickly babies come in as hoglet season is now in full swing. These four were rescued prematurely but some

caring people that removed them a little too early, instead of waiting for mum. We returned to the place where they were found and popped them on a heat pad on the ground.

Please think before you remove wildlife; mum always knows best and rarely abandons her babies. Many species will leave their young for periods of time whilst they go off to feed and then they will return to them. Always give us a call before you remove any animal so we can make sure that they actually need rescuing. We know everyone means well and we appreciate that you are trying to help - which is great! - but always give us a call to double check you are doing the right thing.

OUTCOME:

It took a lot of sitting and waiting with many buckets of coffee for these babies to be returned to a very happy mum.
