Duckling & Blue Tit: Unusual Friends

When an unfortunate lone duckling came into our care, he needed lots of warmth and food. We popped him straight in the incubator so he could

be kept at a constant temperature throughout the day and night. Usually, we have loads of ducklings in at once, but not this time. The sad and lonely duckling needed some friends and fast - they do not do well on their own.

Blue tits - like duckings - are used to many siblings and rarely do we see just the one fledgling come in. Unfortunately after some tree work was carried out, this little guy was the only survivor out of the whole nest!

We didn't want to keep either of these 2 on their own for too long, so decided to see if they would get on together - just until we found them some more suitable friends. It was just so sweet, as soon as they were introduced to each other, they both snuggled up and went to sleep in the same nest. They were so happy, we just had to capture a picture of the unusual pair to show you all!
