Deer: Chobham

We were called out to a deer that was seen by the side of a lane in Chobham; he had got up but collapsed back down again. We

rushed over, worried that he would have some severe injuries. When we arrived, it took us a little while to find him - he was laying just behind a bush. The poor thing didn't kick up too much of a fuss as we moved him; as you can see from the photos he is completely emaciated!

OUTCOME:

His breathing was very, very laboured and he was clearly struggling to keep going. Our amazing vets saw to him straight away and realised there was some severe internal complications. He had obviously been like this for a long time, hence his weight loss. His breathing had got worse just transporting him back to the rescue and so we decided it was kinder to end his suffering :( xx
