Hedgehog: Millie

Unfortunately, this lady got a little stuck upside down in a drain! Thank goodness for the kind lady that called us when she realised she was

down there. She had done washing and used the dishwasher, so we were really worried that the chemicals from these had been ingested by her. We managed to pull her out safe and sound. Her eyes were slightly red; we weren't sure if this was because of the chemicals or something else. We bathed them as soon as we got her back to the rescue and made sure to give her some eye drops over the next few days to prevent any infection from taking root.

Drain covers are so important to prevent situations like this We can't urge people enough to make sure all their drains have a suitable cover to prevent any smaller animals from falling into them - sometimes it can mean the end for the animal!

It was coming up to baby season when Millie arrived with us, so we did not want her to be with us for too long. She would have her own nest all ready made, prepared for babies.

Thankfully, she has not seemed to dampened her spirits and is as lively and feisty as ever!

Millie stayed with us for a week before we took her back to the area she came from. We had to release her as close to where she was found as possible in case she had a prepared nest ready for baby season. We had also spoken to the lovely lady that found him and she assured us that she had got a cover for her drain, so this did not happen again.

A successful release and a happy ending.
