Mouse: Yvonne & Malcolm

These beautiful Field Mice unfortunately lost their mum too young. A caring lady found these two on her patio so she scooped them up

and brought them inside to keep them warm. Went to pick them up and they were very lethargic and still quite cold, the race was on to get them warm, fed and comfortable.

That night, they were kept in an incubator on a heat pad to ensure that their body temperature started to increase. As soon as they were warm, they darting around like nutters! No wonder they had made it so far from their nest, their mum definitely had her hands full with these two.

They are being fed every few hours with goats milk, but they are also feeding themselves with small seeds and bits of fruit and rusk. They are not far off opening their eyes, and as soon as they do we will stop hand feeding completely.

After quite a while in our care, we released these 2 into our massive log pile on site. We have lots of mice already living in there and the area around the logs so it seemed perfect. We left their little house in the log pile for them to use for a few weeks until they felt safe somewhere else.
