Squirrel: Chestnut

Here is little Chestnut, this girl was brought in after a kind man brought her to us after finding her on the ground. She must have fallen from

her drey as she is far too young to be away from mum. She has no obvious injuries, which is amazing since she must have fallen from quite a height!

How can your heart not melt when you see this beautiful little babies face! When Squirrels come in this young, they need a lot of heat straight away to get they body temperature up and need to be fed often. The drey is very small, so the babies are tightly packed together to share their body heat. They are just a bald bundle of joy. Below is a picture of Chestnut after a few weeks of being in our care - you can hardly recognise her! She is looking more like a squirrel now.
