Our volunteers are dedicated and come from a wide range of backgrounds. We are always looking for more help to carry out some of the roles below. 

Covid and the current situation has placed many restraints on us at this time but we will respond to all requests.

WILDLIFE CARE VOLUNTEERS

The cleaning and feeding of wildlife on site. This role is based in the rescue itself. It involves cleaning the indoor & outdoor runs, feeding the animals currently in our care and also general rescue maintenance including restock, laundry etc. The shift is based on a set morning per week from 8am – 11am.

ZOOM VOLUNTEERS

We are embracing technology and offering Zoom talks in the current climate. This role is perfect for anyone who is confident with public speaking. It involves talking to schools, brownies, WI groups and other organisations on behalf of Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue. The talk covers the work we do and some of the animals we deal with, but focuses on how people can help wildlife in their gardens and local areas. Powerpoint/keynotes are provided as well as support.

RECEPTION VOLUNTEER

We need lovely people to answer the phone during our busy day, shifts are 4 hourly, training and coffee given lovingly!  This role is currently based at home. It involves manning our phones which we divert to you. It can include queries such as – wildlife needing help & general wildlife queries. It also involves signing in animals remotely and using our online check in. It may involve admin tasks such as emails, inputting data & social media.

WILDLIFE COLLECTION VOLUNTEER

This role is not an office based role and is far more flexible with hours. To become a wildlife collector you will need to join our online zoom collection course. The role involves collecting wildlife from a specified location and bringing that animal into the rescue.

FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER

As a charity, we are continually fundraising to keep up with our running costs and to enable us to improve our service. We are always looking for new ways to generate funds.

Fundraising on behalf of Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue could be promoting our membership, adoption & donation options online and in the community. Any help is gratefully received.

HAND REARING VOLUNTEERS

This role is needed during baby season where we are inundated with orphans needing round the clock care. It involves taking on a feeding routine with an orphaned animal throughout the day & night. Rearing experience preferred.

HEDGEHOG RELEASE SITE

We use a soft release procedure to release the majority of hedgehogs that come into us. We are always looking for suitable release sites for hedgehogs. To be able to go ahead with hedgehog release and building a run, you will need to join our zoom our Release Course – this will cover all the run specifications that we require, soft release procedure and any questions you may have.

HOME WORKING  VOLUNTEER

This role will be centred around admin tasks, so some computer knowledge is essential. It can involve posting on social media, replying to messages/comments on social media, proof reading, website management etc.
