Wildlife Housekeeping Assistant

Hours: Minimum 1 morning  a week 9am to 1pm or 1 day a week 9.00am – 4.00pm

Location: Windlesham

We are looking for individuals to join our team as Wildlife Housekeeping Assistants.

The role:
Our Wildlife Housekeeping Assistants support the care and rehabilitation of wildlife by preparing meals and feeding wildlife; cleaning and preparing wildlife enclosures, operational and office areas; and washing and drying laundry.

As a Wildlife Housekeeping Assistant, you will:
• Prepare and provide food and water for wildlife.
• Clean wildlife accommodation including isolation and enclosure areas. Clean kitchen preparation area, laundry, storage, reception, offices, stores, staff facilities including kitchens, bathrooms and outside areas.
• Handle wildlife when required.
• Clean and disinfect food bowls, trugs, cages and pens.
• Clean and wash reusable bedding and cloths using onsite laundry facilities.
• Clean all surfaces and sinks, vacuum and mop all rooms.   
• Ensure feed boxes are topped up.
• Ensure all supplies are topped up.
• Dispose of all rubbish.

Experience, knowledge and skills:
• Driving licence and access to a vehicle as we are not on a public transport route

Working Conditions:
Due to the nature of the work, along with location of the cages and pens – the role requires reaching, squatting, kneeling, bending and stretching.  The role also requires lifting and carrying.  You may be working alone at times and will be required to work quietly so you don’t disturb the wildlife.

We have limited accommodation at the rescue and it is essential that the wild animal is checked in prior to arrival to ensure we have space.
