Gardening, Cleaning & Enclosure Maintenance

Job Type: Voluntary
Hours: Monday and/or Wednesday 09:00 am to 12:00 pm 
Location: Windlesham

We are looking for volunteers to help maintain our grounds and the outdoor enclosures.

The role:
As a volunteer you will maintain the lawns and other green spaces and maintain and prepare our wildlife enclosures.

Your duties will include:
• Monitoring the health of greenscapes
• Watering  shrubs, mowing lawns and weeding gardens
• Keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter
• Digging enclosures ready for new occupants
• Mowing lawns
• Clearing plant debris from the grounds
• Cutting back shrubs

Experience, knowledge and skills:
• Experience as a Gardener advantageous but not essential
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations for landscaping advantageous but not essential
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle as we are not on a public transport route
• A love of the outdoors and plant life
• Knowledge of how to use and maintain equipment, including spades, rakes, clippers, secateurs and mowers

Working Conditions:
Due to the nature of the work, along with location of the cages and pens – the role requires reaching, squatting, kneeling, bending and stretching.  The role also requires lifting and carrying.  

You may be working alone at times and will be required to work quietly so you don’t disturb the wildlife.

We have limited accommodation at the rescue and it is essential that the wild animal is checked in prior to arrival to ensure we have space.
