Voluntary Receptionist ​

We are busy Wildlife Hospital with an onsite veterinary surgery and veterinary team and we need your help. Reception is the centre of our world. We need help greeting people , checking in patients for our vets and answering the phones and sending patients home along with everything in between. 

Voluntary Hours: At least 1 half day  9:am to 1pm or 1p to 5pm / 13:00-17:00 or  1 full day/wk  9am  -5pm per week 
We are looking for volunteer Reception Assistants to join our team , full support given so if  you are looking for a desk job and like people this could be for you. 

The role:
As a Reception Assistant you will provide reception services to all our lovely visitors. This includes receiving visitors, processing wildlife admissions, managing phone queries and maintaining records of activity.

Some of the duties:  Greet visitors to the charity.  Assess their needs and redirect as appropriate  – Check in all wildlife admissions and liaise with our onsite  veterinary surgery – Update admission paperwork and database –  Accept donations from visitors – Answer enquiries via email and phone promptly and politely. Provide accurate information and ensure details are taken and passed on to the appropriate persons in a timely manner.

All activities must be done in accordance with our policies and procedures. 

Experience, knowledge and skills: Driving licence and access to a vehicle, as we are isolated and not on public transport route – Great  telephone manner and to be able to stick to a script – Good  communication skills particularly in sensitive situations – Resilient as at times its stressful –  IT skills should  include pages and numbers or word & excel

Working Conditions: 
Due to the nature of the work, along with location of the cages and pens – the role requires reaching, squatting, kneeling, bending and stretching.  The role also requires lifting and carrying.  

You may be working alone at times and will be required to work quietly so you don’t disturb the wildlife.

We have limited accommodation at the rescue and it is essential that the wild animal is checked in prior to arrival to ensure we have space.
